2020 Census South Orange Complete Count ComitteE

I was selected to be the graphic designer to create a campaign to make sure South Orange residents were properly counted in the 2020 Census. South Orange has a big university population that usually is undercounted because students don’t understand that they should fill out the census based on where they are currently living when they receive it, vs. their permanent home address. This ensures that our town would get the correct funding based in it’s population which always includes a large amount of students. The campaign had to be youthful as well as adapt to many forms of media especially social media. We also created pieces to be handed out on campus such as stickers, postcards and door hangers which were placed on off campus residences. South Orange response rate was 84.9% as of Sept. 10, 2020 with a month to go, and higher than the final rate in 2010 (83%) and much higher than the state response rate of 62.1%.
